Tulchin-Francis Selected as IF/THEN Ambassador

At Scottish Rite Hospital, our staff is committed to providing world class care to every patient who walks through our doors. However, the impact that they have on young lives tends to stretch far beyond the walls of the hospital.

We are proud to announce that Division Director of Movement Science Kirsten Tulchin-Francis, Ph.D., has been selected as an IF/THEN Ambassador. Established in 1848, the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) is a worldwide organization dedicated to advancing engineering, science and innovation for the benefit of all people. As part of AAAS, the Ambassadors program is a branch of IF/THEN - an initiative of Lyda Hill Philanthropies, that empowers women in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) to inspire the next generation. The organization selects 125 women to be a part of this prestigious group to serve as role models for middle school girls. From now until October 2021, the program will provide Tulchin-Francis a national platform to tell her career journey.

This recent recognition is not the first organization Tulchin-Francis has been actively involved in to empower young girls. Since 2013, she has been a mentor for The Perry Initiative – a group established in 2009 to inspire women to become leaders in the fields of orthopedic surgery and engineering. “Working with the next generation of young women has always been a passion of mine,” says Tulchin-Francis. “The STEM field has If-then-change-tagline-stacked-orange.jpgmade me the person I am today, and I honored to be able to give back and share my story. I look forward to connecting with these girls to hopefully show them the opportunities that science can bring to their lives.”
