Learn To Golf - Grand Prairie
Date/Time: March 28, 2020, 8:30 AM
At Scottish Rite for Children, the safety of our patients and staff is our number one priority. After receiving recommendations to stop all non-essential outside visits, meetings and events through April 30, we will be canceling all Learn to Golf clinics throughout April.
Check our events section for other events happening on our campus or benefiting the hospital on our events page or follow us on Facebook.
This is our 20th year of the Learn to Golf program. Started in 1998, Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children’s Learn to Golf program is designed for patients with physical challenges. Learn to Golf was formalized in 2000 when the program received its first multi-year grant from the United States Golf Association (USGA), which helped expand and grow the program. Built upon the National Amputee Golf Association’s First Swing program, Learn to Golf provides the tools and instruction needed for active Scottish Rite Hospital patients ages six and up to participate in and reap the rehabilitative benefits of the game of golf.
- Tee Up For Teaching seminars provide golf and allied health care professionals with methods of instruction to teach golf to Scottish Rite Hospital patients with physical challenges.
- Learn to Golf clinics introduce Scottish Rite Hospital patients to the game of golf with specialized training conducted by golf and allied health care professionals.
- Funds are used to provide patients with golf equipment, adapted devices, special prostheses and scholarships for follow-up lessons.
