Share Your Story: High Five with Nehemiah

Meet Nehemiah, a patient seen by our multidisciplinary team of experts. Learn more about his journey below.

Blog written by Nehemiah's mom, Veronika of Aubrey, TX.

Nehemiah was born with a rare, non-genetic condition called proximal femoral focal deficiency. This condition impacts his hip, femur, foot and causes his left leg to have a limb difference of about half the normal size. We were referred to Scottish Rite for Children as soon as Nehemiah was born.

Nehemiah has been a patient at Scottish Rite for the past four years and will continue to see Dr. Herring and the other doctors here. Our experience has been nothing but amazing!

Scottish Rite has given us hope and we feel like it is our second home.

He enjoys his custom prosthetic leg and is currently walking and keeping up with his school friends. Nehemiah enjoys his time at Scottish Rite and looks forward to every visit – especially the delicious popcorn! Every time he sees Dr. Herring, he greets him with an energetic high five. His favorite person is Cecilia in the Orthotics & Prosthetics department at the Frisco location. She is truly a blessing and we are grateful to have not only Cecilia, but the entire Scottish Rite team in our lives.

Scottish Rite means the world to us. The organization has given our entire family hope and encouragement as we go through this journey with Nehemiah.
