Rheumatology Conditions
WHAT IS RHEUMATOLOGY?
Arthritis, which means inflammation of a joint (where two or more bones meet), actually refers to more than 100 different conditions that all fall into the category of rheumatology. Arthritis and other rheumatic conditions are diagnosed by stiffness, swelling, pain and limited movement in joints and other supporting body structures, such as muscles, tendons, ligaments, connective tissues and bones. Scottish Rite for Children's Rheumatology clinic treats children with conditions that can cause inflammation in many different parts of the body.
To become a patient of Scottish Rite for Children Rheumatology, a provider referral is required.
Self-referrals are not accepted.
Referrals are triaged by our clinical team to ensure that patients receive the best care.
Required medical records include:
- Latest/most current progress note from referring provider
- All diagnostic studies related to reason for referral – including imaging and lab results
Referrals will not be triaged until medical records are received.
