During the month of December, treat yourself to a Village Burger Bar “Taylor” Burger — a brisket and chuck patty blend topped with mayo, cheddar cheese, monterey jack cheese, hickory smoked bacon strips, pickles, barbecue sauce and hand-battered onion ring served on a locally-sourced brioche bun. This limited-time burger created by our patient, Taylor, will help benefit patients just like her!

Since 1981 Scottish Rite for Children has hosted the annual Amputee Ski Trip. Fourteen teenage patients, as well as medical staff and hospital chaperones, spend a week at the National Sports Center for the Disabled (NSCD) in Winter Park, Colo. Lives are transformed while leaving a lifelong impact on all who attend.
Patients from around the country have the opportunity to gain independence, while being surrounded by others with similar conditions. “It can be really hard to connect with people and you start to think that you can’t ever find anyone that will understand you,” says a previous attendee. “But here, everyone understands you.”

The hospital hosted the University of Memphis football team for the annual visit from one of the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic teams.
Players and coaches took an afternoon away from the football field to spread smiles by playing games with patients and friends. Tigers players put down the footballs and picked up some crayons for a fun filled afternoon.

Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children was recently transformed into a scene from “Candyland”.
The annual Cookies and Castles, organized by the Dallas Alumnae Chapter of Delta Delta Delta hosted hundreds of families and boasted 6,000 pounds of candy. Kids spent the day decorating gingerbread houses and gingerbread men for a good cause. Now in its 12th year, the event has raised more than $500,000 for the hospital’s prosthetic department.
