First assisting in the operating room
What’s your favorite thing about the hospital?
The genuine benevolence of the culture and the people who work at Scottish Rite Hospital.
Describe a typical day.
- Wake up at 4:30 am and quickly find a lame excuse not to work out
- Arrive at work by 6:00 am and work on charting
- Either begin seeing patients or scrub in to surgery by 8:00 am
- Finish up around 6:00 pm
How did you find out about the hospital?
Through the hospital’s relationship between UTSW and Children’s.
What made you want to work here?
I wanted to be a part of helping grow the Sports Medicine Center into the best pediatric sports medicine practice in the country.
What skills do you need for your job?
A strong work ethic, commitment to excellence in patient care and a strong interest in clinical research.
What was your first job? What path did you take to get here?
Staff RN in Cardiology/Renal at Children’s in Dallas.
I obtained my masters in nursing at TWU while working full time nights and weekends at Children’s.
