Interpreter Services

At Scottish Rite, we help bridge communication between families and care teams across languages and cultures. Our goal is to make sure you feel understood and informed throughout your child’s care.

Clear communication helps you ask questions, understand next steps and feel more confident during your visit.

Support in Your Preferred Language

We offer several ways to support communication, based on your family’s needs.

In-person interpreters

For many families, support happens in person during scheduled visits.

  • Dallas Spanish interpreters are available Monday through Friday, 6:30 am – 5:00 pm
  • Frisco Spanish interpreters are available Monday through Friday, 7:00 am – 3:30 pm
  • Other languages, including sign language, can be arranged with at least 24-hour advance notice

Phone interpretation (OPI)

If an in-person interpreter is not available, we can connect you quickly by phone. This service supports:

  • Access to more than 200 languages, often in less than one minute
  • Conversations that can continue without delay during your visit

Video interpretation (VRI)

Video interpretation, available through an outside service, may be used during your visit when seeing the interpreter is helpful. This service supports:

  • Visual communication, including sign language
  • Real-time interpretation through a tablet during your visit

What to Expect During Your Visit

When your interpreter arrives, they will introduce themselves and explain their role. They may wait outside the room at first and join when your visit begins.

Before the conversation starts, the interpreter may share a few quick guidelines with you and your care team. This helps everyone communicate clearly from the start.

During your visit:

  • Speak in short sentences
  • Pause often so the interpreter can share each message
  • Speak directly with your child’s care team
  • Ask questions anytime if something is unclear

These simple steps help make sure information is shared accurately. (Note: Everything shared during your visit is kept confidential, including conversations interpreted by our team.)

If there is a delay and your interpreter has not arrived, your care team can contact dispatch to check availability.

Getting Started

You can request an interpreter when scheduling your child’s visit or at any time during your appointment.

If you already have an appointment, let your care team know your preferred language. For languages other than Spanish, requesting ahead of time helps our team prepare.
