Pharmacy Services

Safe, reliable medication support to help your child heal and stay on track.

The pharmacy at Scottish Rite for Children supports patients receiving care here by preparing and reviewing medications used during treatment, procedures, hospitalization and discharge. Our pharmacists work closely with your child’s care team to help ensure medications are used safely and correctly.

The pharmacy supports patients receiving care at Scottish Rite and does not function as a community retail pharmacy.

How the Pharmacy Supports Your Child’s Care

The Pharmacy team plays an important role in your child’s treatment by:

  • Preparing medications for inpatient care and medications needed after discharge
  • Reviewing medication orders for accuracy and safety
  • Maintaining up-to-date medication records
  • Working with your child’s care team to support medication use

Pharmacists may also support more complex care needs, including specialized medication plans or research studies when appropriate.

Custom Medications (Compounding)

Some children need medications that are not available in standard forms or doses.

When this happens as part of a patient’s care at Scottish Rite, our pharmacy may prepare customized medications to meet the patient’s specific needs, such as:

  • Adjusting the dose
  • Changing the form (liquid, capsule or other forms)
  • Preparing certain medications not commercially available

These medications are prepared using strict safety and quality standards.

Medication Education and What to Expect

Our pharmacists will walk you through your child’s medications and what to expect next.

You can expect:

  • A review of your child’s medications for safety and accuracy
  • Clear instructions on how and when to give each medication
  • Guidance on possible side effects and storage
  • Support if a dose is missed or questions come up

We know medication instructions can feel overwhelming at times.

Our team takes time to answer your questions so you feel comfortable and confident at home.
