Social Work Services

Support for your child’s care goes beyond medicine. Social workers help your family navigate your child’s health care journey.

Our Approach to Social Work

When your child needs care, there can be more to manage than medical treatment alone. At Scottish Rite, social workers are here to support your family in real, practical ways.

We help you navigate systems like healthcare, community resources and benefits that can often feel overwhelming. Our social workers take time to understand your unique situation. We support you in identifying next steps for your family during your child’s care.

Scottish Rite’s Social Work team helps bring together your care team, school and community resources so your child’s care stays connected and on track. We can also connect you with other departments and services available for patients and visitors for additional support. This includes Family Services and Financial Assistance.

Part of Your Care Team

Social workers are part of our Family Services team at Scottish Rite. The Family Services team also includes:

  • Medical interpreters
  • Medical consult coordinators

Together, we support your family throughout your child’s care experience.

How Social Workers Can Help

Social workers provide support with the day-to-day needs that come with your child’s care.

We can help in many situations, including when your family needs support with transportation, lodging, school needs or understanding available programs.

Support may include:

  • Adjusting to a new diagnosis or ongoing care
  • Planning for hospital stays or returning home
  • Coordinating care beyond Scottish Rite
  • Supporting school needs, including Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), special education services and school accommodations
  • Connecting you with counseling or mental health services
  • Identifying financial or assistance programs (including Crayon Care)
  • Referrals to community services and specialty providers

We tailor support to your child and your family. Your needs may change over time, and our social workers can continue to help along the way.
