Care Philosophy
Ashley Joseph, M.D.“I have always had a natural inclination to care for children. I started babysitting at the age of 11 and I started caring for my first child with cerebral palsy at the age of 12. Caring for a child with such significant needs was incredibly gratifying for me. That experience provided clarity for a path to my future career. I knew I was destined to take care of children as my life’s work. I initially started my medical career path as a pediatrician. While I enjoyed the well child visits and seeing my patients on an outpatient basis, I soon realized that I missed the critical thinking and real time decision making that accompanies procedural specialties like critical care and anesthesiology. I trained for another four years to become a pediatric anesthesiologist. I now care for patients with high medical needs (including many children with cerebral palsy) on a daily basis and I am both humbled and grateful that their parents entrust me with their care.”
