Rheumatology Conditions

WHAT IS RHEUMATOLOGY?

Rheumatology focuses on diseases that have inflammation involving the joints, bones, and muscles along with other internal organs.  Juvenile Arthritis is the most common rheumatic disease affecting children where patients experience joint swelling, stiffness, and limited movement.  The Rheumatology clinic also treats a variety of other conditions including Systemic Lupus, Juvenile dermatomyositis, Vasculitis, Scleroderma, and recurrent fever syndromes

The Rheumatology clinic does not care for children with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome or chronic pain, including fibromyalgia.

To become a patient of Scottish Rite for Children Rheumatology, a provider referral is required.

Self-referrals are not accepted.

Referrals are triaged by our clinical team to ensure that patients receive the best care.

Required medical records include:

  • Latest/most current progress note from referring provider
  • All diagnostic studies related to reason for referral – including imaging and lab results

Referrals will not be triaged until medical records are received.
