School-Based Identification of Dyslexia in Texas: Beyond the Basic Level

Date/Time: March 31, 2020, 8:30 AM

At Scottish Rite for Children, the safety of our patients and staff is our number one priority. After receiving recommendations to stop all non-essential outside visits, meetings and events through April 30, we have canceled all dyslexia seminars through April 30.

Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children is offering a seminar for educators responsible for administering tests and performance measures, and/or interpreting assessment results to identify students with dyslexia and recommend instructional intervention. This seminar is "Beyond the Basics" and specifically designed for those with experience in the identification process who would like to review, refine and update their knowledge.

Event Speaker: Gladys Kolenovsky

This seminar will highlight:
  • Application of the definition of dyslexia to the identification of dyslexia
  • Case studies of student profiles both with and without dyslexia
  • Case studies of student profiles that go “Beyond the Basics,” including those with complications of ADHD or developmental oral language challenges.
  • Case studies that consider intervention decisions based upon the student’s response to intervention
  • Case studies submitted by those attending

Registration includes continental breakfast, lunch, and seminar materials for attendees.
