Get to Know our SRH Staff: Michelle Loyd, Rheumatology RN

Michelle has been working at our hospital as a registered nurse for 15 years. She has a unique connection to Scottish Rite Hospital because in 2002, she was selected as one of the first nurse externs. Learn more about her in our SRH Staff Spotlight below:

What’s your favorite part of your job?
When I get to tell parents that their child’s medication has been approved by their insurance. The approval process can take weeks or even months to be approved due to the cost of the medication and changes happening in health care.
What’s your favorite thing about the hospital?
My co-workers are my favorite part. We are family and share everything - through the good and bad times. Oh, and the desserts, they are the best.

Each day is different. No two days are the same.

Ability to multi-task, problem solve and critically think.
What was your first job? What path did you take to get here?
This is my first nursing job. I was a nurse extern in Ambulatory Care in 2002 and begged Charles Whetstone (director of Ambulatory Care at the time) to hire me the next year when I graduated in May 2003. Thankfully, he did!
