Get to Know our SRH Staff: Mickey Brooks, Wellness Program Coordinator / Trainer

Mickey Brooks has been working at our hospital as one of our Wellness Program Coordinators and trainer for 10 years. 

What’s your favorite part of your job? 
Making sure our staff stays fit!
What’s your favorite thing about the hospital?
Love the culture 
Describe a typical day.
I start out the day with office time performing body analysis and fitness consultations as well as coordinating all the wellness challenges. Around 11:00 a.m., I’ll head down to fitness center for midday functional workout sessions until 2:00 p.m. Then back up to office for more fitness consultations.

What made you want to work here? 
The culture of the hospital.
What skills do you need for your job? 
Ability to motivate, inspire, fitness industry knowledge and most of all ability to listen.
What was your first job? What path did you take to get here?
Before moving to the states, I was a professional bodybuilder in Germany for 10 ten years!

An airline pilot

Hitch hike from Kassel, Germany to Madrid, Spain.
What’s the last book you read? 
Bringing Up Boys
What kind of animal would you be?
How long is your commute? What do you do on the drive?
35 minutes. I typically try to avoid all the crazy drivers on the road.
What is something people don’t know about you? 
I love to dance, however not that well!
What’s your go-to karaoke song? 
"Let’s Get It On" by Marvin Gaye. I love old school music.
