Get to Know our SRH Staff: Sarah Cochran, Patient Access Manager Frisco Campus

Meet Sarah - our Frisco Campus Patient Access Manager who has worked at our hospital for seven years. Learn more about her in our #SRHstaff Spotlight below:

What’s your favorite part of your job?

My favorite part of the job is meeting patients and their families. I enjoy getting to know them and encouraging them on their road to recovery.

What’s your favorite thing about the hospital?

Probably the "Can Do" attitude we had at the North Campus that we have brought to our new Frisco Facility. I get the honor of working with very talented people who work hard and always push me to be better.

Describe a typical day.

I get to clinic around 7:00 am and make sure things are in order for the day. Patients start arriving around 7:30 and I start checking them in for their appointments, answering the phones, and emails. And then throughout the day I try to make sure things are running smoothly in clinic and that patients are happy as well as staff.

How did you find out about the hospital?

My brother was a patient in the dyslexia center so I’ve known about the hospital for a while, but after college I ran into Kyle Cavin and he mentioned they were hiring for the Appointment Desk so I applied.

What made you want to work here?

The hospital has such a great reputation in the community and what we do for children is amazing.

What skills do you need for your job?

Great customer service skills and patience.

What was your first job? What path did you take to get here?

My first job was when I was 16, I worked at the dry cleaners in town.

What is your favorite…

  • Hospital event: it’s a toss-up between the Christmas Party and the Holiday Bazaar
  • Food in the cafeteria: I haven’t eaten at the main campus in a while but the pasta bar was always great or anything Chef Venus would make
  • Place in the hospital: The atrium - that is where all the action happens

What’s your favorite…

  •  Place to travel: Europe, but specifically Italy
  • Type of food: Mexican
  • TV show: College Game Day

If you could have a super power, what would it be?

To be able to fly so that I could travel more often.

What did you want to be when you grew up?

A teacher

What’s the most adventurous thing you’ve ever done?

When traveling in Bolivia I ate at a traditional Brazilian steak house and ate some pretty interesting things. In case you were wondering cow utter is not great.

What’s the last book you read?

Girl Wash Your Face by Rachel Hollis or My Bible

What kind of animal would you be?

A dog…who doesn’t love a sweet pup

How long is your commute? What do you do on the drive?

About 15 minutes and on my drive I listen to worship music and prepare myself for the day.

What is something people don’t know about you?

When I was in 5th grade I was crowned Little Miss Country Day. It was a small town beauty pageant in my hometown.

What’s your go-to karaoke song?

Honestly, I have never done karaoke but if car karaoke counts I would say anything that is old school country.
