Get to Know our Staff: Brad Osborne, Human Resources

What is your job title/your role at Scottish Rite for Children?
I am a Scottish Rite for Children Human Resources Generalist, which means I’m here to serve you!

What do you do on a daily basis or what sort of duties do you have at work?
As your human resources professional, my goal is to be the internal subject matter expert and sought-after partner and advisor to leadership and employees that will provide value through progressive, diverse solutions that align and support the mission of Scottish Rite for Children.

What was your first job? What path did you take to get here or what led you to Scottish Rite? How long have you worked here?
My first job was working at Wal-Mart in the toy department. I was then promoted into management, which led me to the field of human resources. Fast forward, the Scottish Rite mission and vision led me here, and I’ve now been here for about four weeks. I have felt the family experience from day one!

What do you enjoy most about Scottish Rite?
I love the family I work with every day. Our Human Resources team is an amazing group, and I am thankful to have been accepted and be a part of the family.

Tell us something about your job that others might not already know.
Not only does a full moon impact emergency rooms and police departments, but also you would never guess that it would have an impact on HR, but it does.

What was the last thing you read?
The last thing I read was an article in The Dallas Morning News, for the top 100 places to work in Dallas, where our organization is ranked No. 11. Not only are we number 11, but also we are No. 1 in health care facilities, and this is huge! This will impact our recruiting efforts and our employee engagement.

What was the best vacation you ever took and why?
The best vacation was with my sister. It was our first vacation together since we were kids and the first time both of our families spent the week together in Destin, FL.

Do you collect anything? How did you start?
Against my will, I collect gray hairs. It all started 30 years ago when I entered the field of human resources. Although, I wouldn’t change anything! I love human resources and being there for my internal and external customers.

Do you play any sports or instruments?
I currently play in the Dallas PSSA Softball League, and I played the trumpet in my high school band.
