Get to Know our Staff: John Dosser, Communications
What is your role at Scottish Rite for Children? How long have you worked here?
I get to wear many hats at Scottish Rite for Children! Most people will recognize me as the guy with the camera they are always trying to avoid (you know who you are). Others know me as the graphic designer who helped rebrand their marketing collateral. Some might even know me as the AV guy who helped get the audio on their presentation to play through the conference room speakers.
I joined Scottish Rite in May 2019, so I’ve been here about a year and half.
What do you enjoy most about Scottish Rite?
Working in the Communications department, I get to see Scottish Rite from a lot of different angles. This place has some amazing people who do some incredible things. Being able to help tell that story is pretty awesome!
What’s the coolest or most interesting thing you’re working on right now?
The most interesting project I recently worked on is the new 2020 Progress Report/2021 Calendar. With the upcoming Centennial celebration set for 2021, our department overhauled the entire design and layout of the calendar adding much more content, photos and history of Scottish Rite. If you haven’t thumbed through it yet, I suggest you give it a read.
If you could snap your fingers and become an expert in something, what would it be?
Grammar.
What advice would you give to your teenage self?
Start squirreling away toilet paper and hand sanitizer. You’ll thank me in 2020.
What’s something you saw recently that made you smile?
My kids! I have three little ones and they’re pretty awesome. It’s hard not to smile around them.
What’s your favorite sport to watch and which team do you root for?
After spending most of my adult life in San Antonio, I’m obviously a Spurs fan. I had to be. It’s a requirement to be a resident of San Antonio.
However, if I’m picking a sport to watch, I’d lean towards soccer, especially during the World Cup (I’m super pumped about the 2026 World Cup coming to North America).
What three words would your friends use to describe you?
“That’s him, officer.”
