Get to Know our Staff: Johnny Zhang, Research
What is your job title/your role at Scottish Rite for Children?
I am the Director of Creative Innovation in Spine Research.
What do you do on a daily basis or what sort of duties do you have at work?
On a typical day, I study and update my research projects. I sometimes meet with other staff members to discuss research ideas and concepts. We are always looking for ways to improve how we treat patients with scoliosis.
What was your first job? How long have you worked here?
My first job was as an orthopedic surgeon at Tianjian Hospital in China in 1986. I have been at Scottish Rite since 1997.
What do you enjoy most about Scottish Rite?
I love that we are child-focused and put children and families first. Scottish Rite encourages me and provides the opportunities to study and develop better treatments for spinal deformities in children.
Where is the most interesting place you’ve been?
Istanbul, Turkey. It was a beautiful city with incredible architecture and great food!
What is your favorite game or sport to watch and play?
Football — I love the Cowboys and am still waiting for them to win the Super Bowl!
What’s one fun fact about yourself?
I love to run and hope to participate in the Dallas (Half) Marathon before I turn 60!
