Get to Know our Staff: Leslee Alvarez, Pharmacy

What is your job title/your role at Scottish Rite for Children?
I am a certified pharmacy technician at the Frisco and Dallas campuses.

What do you do on a daily basis or what sort of duties do you have at work?
When I am in Frisco, I make sure all of the Omnicell’s (our automated system for medication management) are stocked and I prepare syringes that will be in the operating room during surgery. In Dallas, I mainly fill discharge prescriptions and provide support in other areas as needed.

What was your first job? What path did you take to get here or what led you to Scottish Rite? How long have you worked here?
My first job was when I was 16 years old, bagging groceries at Kroger. My brother is actually the person who got me interested in a pharmacy career. He was in the Army and worked in several different pharmacies throughout his career. I’ve been with Scottish Rite for six years.

What do you enjoy most about Scottish Rite?
The people that I work with, and seeing the impact that this organization has on children’s lives.

Tell us something about you that others might not already know.
I was the 1991 Collin County Honey Queen and the 1992 Texas Honey Queen.

What energizes you outside of work?
Since the passing of my mother, I help my father and try to see him as much as I can.

What’s your favorite sport to watch and which team do you root for?
I love college football! Especially the Texas Longhorns – Hook’em Horns!

What is special about the place you grew up?
I grew up in a small town in the country. It was the people that made it a special place!

What’s the top destination on your must-visit list?
Bora Bora
