Get to Know our Staff: Melissa Watkins, Supply Chain

What is your job title/your role at Scottish Rite for Children?
I am a supply chain specialist. My role is to make sure all departments get what they need in a timely manner by receiving all packages in, pulling orders and stocking shelves for our patients and staff.

What do you do on a daily basis or what sort of duties do you have at work?
My daily duties are receiving for all major trucks: UPS, FedEx Express, FedEx Ground and Medline. I work on receiving in unpaid invoices so they can get paid. I research lost or misplaced packages and direct truck drivers to the correct place for their deliveries. I make sure everything is organized and in order. I also communicate with our buyers about discrepancies. Lastly, I set up our volunteers to make deliveries to departments throughout the institution.

What was your first job? What path did you take to get here or what led you to Scottish Rite? How long have you worked here?
My first job was at Popeye’s. I was looking for a job, and I went to a temp agency where they had a job for a mail clerk at Scottish Rite for Children. They said the assignment would last two weeks, and I said ‘Okay, I will take it.’ I have worked here for 14 years now. I did 11 years as a mail clerk and three years as a supply chain specialist. This organization is a special place, and I thank God for putting Scottish Rite in my path — it has truly been a blessing.

What do you enjoy most about Scottish Rite?
I enjoy that we are all here for the same mission: to provide great service for our patients and their families.

What is your favorite game or sport to watch and play?
Basketball or football

What’s one fun fact about yourself?
