Get to Know our Staff: Nancy Dyer, Surgical Services

What is your role at Scottish Rite for Children?
I am a surgical services scheduling coordinator. I help schedule surgeries at the Frisco campus, greet the patients and families when they arrive for surgery, complete the check-in process to get them ready for the pre-op nurses and help restock supplies.

What do you enjoy most about Scottish Rite?
I like the positive environment and the great coworkers. Scottish Rite really makes you feel like a valued member of the team.

What was your first job? What path did you take to get here? How long have you worked here?
My first job was at MJ Designs in the floral department. I first learned about scheduling tests while working in the Radiology department at a hospital in Mesquite. We scheduled the tests for that department, adding additional departments over the years. I have been at Scottish Rite for two years.

What’s the coolest or most interesting thing you’re working on right now?
I have been reading cookbooks to learn about the whole food/plant-based way of eating.

What are you currently watching on Netflix/Hulu/TV/etc.?
Downton Abby and Lucifer

What would be the most amazing adventure to go on?
I would love to visit Europe.

What are some small things that make your day better?
I like when our younger patients come in for surgery and they have their favorite stuffed animal with them.

What is special about the place you grew up?
We had a Baskin-Robbins very close to our neighborhood and my dad and I would sometimes stop for a fun treat when we were out riding bikes.

What is your favorite thing to do when you’re not working?
I like to read and watch YouTube videos on recipes and car shows.
