What is your job title/your role at Scottish Rite for Children?
I am in inpatient support, and I serve as the front desk clerk at the Inpatient Unit.

What do you do on a daily basis or what sort of duties do you have at work?
I deliver PCA epidural pumps from the med room and patients to surgery. I also prepare the admit/surgery rooms, transport patients to X-ray, or I transport patients to a different facility. I run errands, tidy the supply room/tub room/cast room and clean equipment. I also tag broken equipment to BIOMED when it does not function. I check the desk for lab specimens and deliver specimens to the lab. I check and clear hallways for the patients and order supplies on the unit to make sure everything is stocked for the next day. Sometimes, I also cover the front desk to answer phones, admit a patient and I am also the one who greets the family and assigns them to their room.

What was your first job? What path did you take to get here or what led you to Scottish Rite? How long have you worked here?
My first job was at McDonald’s. I was drawn to Scottish Rite because of the happy home environment, the families in the Inpatient Unit, and I love to work with children. I have been at Scottish Rite for 22 years.

What do you enjoy most about Scottish Rite?
I love to make sure that the families on the unit are in good care. I enjoy letting the patient know that everything is going to be fine and love to make the families feel relaxed and comfortable.

Tell us something about your job that others might not already know.
I love to listen to the stories of the patients, and I am involved with the activities with the patients.

Where is the most interesting place you’ve been?
The Grand Canyon. In Las Vegas, the view that takes your breath away.

What is your favorite game or sport to watch and play?
For football, I root for the Dallas Cowboys. In baseball, I support the Texas Rangers. I also love to watch track on television.

What’s one fun fact about yourself?
I love decorating my home, making flower arrangements and spending time with my family. I also love to cook!
