What is your job title / your role at Scottish Rite for Children?
As a physical therapist, my role is to treat children of all ages, who have a variety of conditions or situations. I work to help them regain their childhood and empower them to reach their full potential.

What do you do on a daily basis or what sort of duties do you have at work?
I work in the Orthopedic department of therapy services, and it is an awesome group of truly compassionate people. On a typical day, I will work with up to 11 patients with unique situations ranging from post-operative, pre-operative, orthopedic injuries, neuromuscular conditions, and the list goes on.

My role is to help those patients, through development and implementation of exercises or neuromuscular therapy, reach whatever goals they may have. I’m kind of a jack-of-all-trades and have helped my patients with returning to sports, marching band, horseback riding. I’ve even helped kids learn how to skateboard!

What was your first job? What path did you take to get here or what led you to Scottish Rite? How long have you worked here?
My first job was umpiring for girls softball at a recreational and select level. I would say out of any job I’ve had in my life, that was the most stressful one! Parents of girls that play softball know exactly what I’m talking about.

Scottish Rite was meant to be my end goal of a job, but I actually ended up here quite sooner than expected as this is just my second job out of physical therapy school. My younger brother and sister each received care at Scottish Rite back in the ‘80s and ‘90s, so I have always been familiar with the organization. This July will be my second year working here, and I’m excited for many more!

What do you enjoy most about Scottish Rite?
I would say the patients and the ability to be a creative with their treatment. Each child brings a different situation and goal, which keeps me on my toes because no two patients are alike.

What energizes you outside of work?
Anything with 300+ milligrams of caffeine. I’m somewhat of a connoisseur of energy drinks.

What’s your favorite memory?
I’d have to say my proposal to my fiancé last year on the beach at night. We are getting married this October!

Are you an introvert or an extrovert?
I’m really an omnivert, where I don’t quite fit into one category but rather range from one extreme to the other, depending on the situation. At work I’m known as the joking, funloving one with all of the toys/games. I have quite the fidget collection!

What kind of music do you like? What’s the best concert you’ve been to?
I listen to heavy metal/screamo and Taylor Swift. Seriously, I know almost all the words to her songs. I haven’t ever been to a concert before, but I’m going to see Simple Plan and New Found Glory this August.

What’s the top destination on your must-visit list?
I’m not much of a traveler, hence the omnivert, but I wouldn’t turn down a trip to the Caribbean, Jamaica or Greece!
