Get to Know our Staff: Tiffany Epperson, Ambulatory Care

What is your role at Scottish Rite for Children?
As the director of the Ambulatory Care department, every day is different, which I LOVE! My role is to ensure we run a smooth operation in the clinics, including both a positive patient experience and a positive experience for staff.

What do you enjoy most about Scottish Rite?
The staff! I have worked at several different pediatric facilities and have never seen such a love for patients, families and peers. Scottish Rite is truly a family, through and through. It is such a joy and honor to work with people who truly love their job, with peers who want you to be the best you can be.

What was your first job? Why did you decide to do the work you are doing now?
My first job was being a lifeguard. From a young age, I always knew that I wanted to work in health care. In elementary school, I was always the first one on the playground to run up and look at skinned knees and broken bones. I wanted to be in the middle of the action, seeing all of the details! I have been with Scottish Rite for a little over four years.

What’s the coolest or most interesting thing you’re working on right now?
I have two sons and one is a senior and the other is a junior, so my life is consumed with all of the lasts they are experiencing. Last first day, last homecoming, last holidays under one roof, last, last, last. Getting to see college, through my boys’ eyes, has been such a fun experience. I love this time for them.

What are you currently watching on Netflix/Hulu/TV/etc.?
Football! I feel like COVID truly afforded us the opportunity to slow down and stay home, so during that time I watched all of Netflix. I mean almost all of it anyway. Now that football is back, I am watching a lot of games, but my favorites are watching my boys play and the TCU Horned Frogs.

What would be the most amazing adventure to go on?
Great question! I am definitely a beach girl, so maybe a tour of beaches across the world. But only if I could stay as long as I wanted. Otherwise, no need for temptation.

What are some small things that make your day better?
I absolutely love to hear laughter. There is something so simple and wholesome about a good laugh. I also love to hear great news from friends and family. To hear excitement from another person is such a joy and warms my heart.

What is special about the place you grew up?
My husband - we are high school sweethearts and I will be forever grateful to our hometown for bringing us together. I also love that we grew up in a small town where everyone knew everyone. There is no place like home!

What is your favorite thing to do when you’re not working?
Spend time with family and friends. If that happens to be on a beach, even better! My happy place is with my favorite people - in the sun and with sand in my toes.
