Hospital Doctors and Current Fellows Attend the 2017 International Pediatric Orthopaedic Symposium

Recently, doctors and current fellows from Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children were in Orlando, Florida participating in the annual International Pediatric Orthopaedic Symposium (IPOS). This four-day conference was presented by the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America (POSNA) and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS). It brought together medical professionals from around the world to learn and collaborate with the best in pediatric orthopedics. Hundreds were in attendance to learn the latest best practices, treatments and insights regarding the care of children and adolescents.

Doctors from the hospital were featured speakers and lead various educational breakout sessions to share their expertise. Topics included the care and treatment of pediatric foot and hip conditions, sports injuries, scoliosis management and several others.

Chief of Staff Daniel J. Sucato, M.D., M.S. acknowledged the importance of not only attending this conference, but the significance of staff participating. “IPOS provides our orthopedic staff the platform to share their expertise on an international stage and the opportunity to expand their knowledge in treating pediatric orthopedic conditions,” says Sucato. “This conference also exposes the hospital’s current fellows to a world-wide network of medical professionals to advance their skill and hear from the best in the field.”

Scottish Rite Hospital is honored to have medical staff who are recognized as leaders and educators within the pediatric orthopedic community. The International Pediatric Orthopaedic Symposium provides our staff a well-rounded experience to not only learn from fellow colleagues, but also gives them the opportunity to teach medical professionals from around the world to bring better care to children everywhere.
