Ritvika - BMW Patient Champion

ince 2007, the Patient Champion program has enlisted Scottish Rite Hospital patients to help encourage and cheer on runners in the BMW Dallas Marathon. This program is a way to highlight some of the wonderful kids the marathon generously supports each year. We’re excited to introduce you to Ritvika!

Ritvika, age 12, of Lewisville, first saw the experts at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children for her early onset scoliosis, when she was just a baby.

Ritvika is unstoppable!  She is a fierce wheelchair basketball competitor and loves to participate in her school theatre group and sing in the choir.

People often stop and say hello to Ritvika in the hallway and she can often be found “chatting with her friends” at the nursing station. Not only is she well-loved at Scottish Rite Hospital, but the level of care that she received for her scoliosis has allowed her to experience her childhood to the fullest.  With aspirations to be a pediatrician, we are excited to see where she goes!
