Scottish Rite Hospital Hosts the Fox Study Group Meeting

At Scottish Rite Hospital, we are dedicated to ongoing research to bring the best care to our patients now and into the future. Throughout the year, our doctors and researchers travel around the world to share their expertise and learn from other leaders in the industry. Additionally, the hospital regularly hosts multicenter study groups to cultivate collaboration surrounding a certain pediatric orthopedic topic to discuss the latest techniques and innovations.

Today, the hospital is honored to host the Fox Study Group meeting. Established in 2011, this multicenter international research group is comprised of 18 institutions with 25 surgeons from around the country. Scottish Rite Hospital is the lead center, which includes Chief of Staff Daniel J. Sucato, M.D., M.S. as the principal investigator and research coordinator Dong Tran, M.S., C.C.R.P. The purpose of this research is to analyze the indications, corrections and outcomes of patients with very severe pediatric spinal deformities who require surgery as treatment. During this meeting, the group is reviewing the progress of the study and evaluating the short and long-term goals and ensuring safety for these complex deformities.

“As a leading institution who cares for children with severe orthopedic conditions, it is an honor to host and be a part of such a prestigious group,” says Sucato. “Scoliosis and kyphosis in young patients is complex and requires research to provide answers and better outcomes. The Fox Study Group is focused on analyzing these cases to understand and determine an effective way to treat children with spinal deformities and bring better and safer care to patients everywhere.”
