This week, staff from Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children are in Phoenix, Arizona at the American Association for Hand Surgery (AAHS) annual meeting. The AAHS includes hand surgeons and therapists from around North America to advance the care and education of hand treatment. With over 1,400 members, this three-day meeting includes research paper presentations, panel discussions and 30 instructional courses to cultivate inclusion and collaboration. 

Director of the Charles E. Seay Hand Center Scott Oishi, M.D. is representing the hospital at the annual meeting. As part of the 30 instructional courses, Oishi is the chair for ‘Congential Hand Surgery – What Every Hand Surgeon Should Know.’ The purpose of this course is to educate fellow medical professionals on patients with congenital hand differences and discuss the various testing and treatment options that are most common. 

“Attending hand specific conferences is a great opportunity for our center to continue learning best practices when caring for our patients,” says Oishi. “I am honored to be able to lead an educational course to bring more knowledge to fellow medical professionals regarding the common to the complex of hand differences.”
