Get to Know our Staff: Cindi Figueroa, Fracture Clinic

What is your role at Scottish Rite for Children?
I am a medical assistant in the Fracture Clinic. I bring patients back to do intakes and get them ready to see our nurse practitioners, which includes uploading patient images, collecting medical history, removing splints for assessments, releasing X-Ray orders, etc. Every day in the Fracture Clinic is different when it comes to patient volume.

What do you enjoy most about Scottish Rite?

What I enjoy about Scottish Rite is the atmosphere and working with my team. We work together very well in order to take care of patients and their families.

What was your first job? Why did you decide to do the work you are doing now?
My first job was working as a leasing agent at a real state office, which helped me pay my way through college. My grandmother has been my inspiration to work in the medical field. When I was younger, I saw her struggle with her health and as a child I didn’t understand much about what was going on, but I knew that in the future I wanted to work in a place that allowed me to help others and to make a difference. Working at Scottish Rite has helped me do so and to grow not only professionally but also personally. I know my grandmother would be proud of the work I’ve done. I have worked at Scottish Rite for almost five years.

What’s the coolest or most interesting thing you’re working on right now?

Right now, I am a part time student, working on a bachelor's in science.

What are you currently watching on Netflix/Hulu/TV/etc.?
Currently I am watching Cobra Kai on Netflix.

What would be the most amazing adventure to go on?
I would love to go on an African safari and visit the Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe.

What are some small things that make your day better?
Knowing that I was able to help someone that day, whether I am at work or elsewhere.

What is special about the place you grew up?
I grew up in El Salvador which is the smallest country in Central America. Our people are very welcoming, and we have beautiful beaches in the Pacific.

What is your favorite thing to do when you’re not working?
I love listening to music. My playlist has music from the 80’s to now and I switch from English to Spanish.
