Get to Know our Staff: Imelda Frigoli, Rheumatology

What is your job title/your role at Scottish Rite for Children?
I am a nurse in the Rheumatology department and the infusion clinic.
What do you do on a daily basis or what sort of duties do you have at work?
I am a nurse coordinator for Dr. Fuller on the Dallas campus. Rheumatology cares for patients with arthritis, lupus and various systemic autoimmune diseases. Our Rheumatology team rocks! I help run clinic, do medication teaching, manage medication refills, triage patient phone calls, just to name a few. Many of our patients most affected by their condition receive intravenous therapy, and I am one of the nurses who provides therapy for this patient population.
What was your first job? What path did you take to get here or what led you to Scottish Rite? How long have you worked here?
My first job was working at Montgomery Ward in the jewelry department. I worked at Parkland before coming to Scottish Rite, and my late husband inspired me to become a nurse. He suffered from systemic lupus erythematosus. After his passing, God opened the door at Scottish Rite for Children, precisely where I was meant to be — in the Rheumatology department. I have worked here for three years.
What do you enjoy most about Scottish Rite?
Everyone is treated like family.
What energizes you outside of work?
Hiking with my new husband and working out.
What is special about the place you grew up?
I was born in Mexico, and I love our culture and nature. We have mountains and waterfalls in my hometown. We came to the United States when I was 9 years old and settled in Oak Cliff. I loved our community there.
What kind of music do you like? What’s the best concert you’ve been to?
I love all types of music, from 80s alternative to classical music. My favorite composer is Ennio Morricone. I've been to a Shakira concert before, and it was pretty cool!
What’s the top destination on your must-visit list?
I would love to go to Jerusalem.
